Medical School Admission Essays – Learn the Admission Criteria

Medical School Admission Essays - Learn the Admission Criteria

Medical school admissions are becoming increasingly competitive, in part, because of the failing U.S. economy. Bright applicants who used to target business school or law degrees are finding those fields unstable and are turning their interest toward medicine. Consequently, stronger candidates are now pursuing a medical career, making professional medical school admissions consulting increasingly important in optimizing medical school applications.

Medical school admissions consulting companies come in a variety of forms. Some are larger companies that focus on admissions to several types of graduate programs – not just medicine. Others are smaller companies that provide a medical focus, but have a group of consultants. Finally, elite companies offer both the medical focus and a highly experienced consultant who works one-on-one with clients. These professionals are ex-admissions officers from respected medical institutions. They have the inside knowledge of how medical admissions work, providing personalized guidance to optimize candidate’s written materials and interview skills.

Because applicants can unknowingly undermine their chances of success with poorly compiled application materials, underdeveloped medical school admission essays and inadequate interview skills, a qualified, personalized medical school admissions consultant provides a great advantage.

An expert consultant can offer a variety of services to improve a medical school application:

  1. AMCAS® editing. The American Medical College Application Service is a centralized application processing service for medical school applicants. Ensuring that a candidate’s activity descriptions are optimally-worded is essential for showcasing the applicants’ accomplishments to admissions committees.
  2. Medical school personal statement and secondary essay editing. The AMCAS® medical school admission essay and follow up secondary essays allow the applicant to demonstrate his or her distinctiveness as a candidate. Excellent organization, format, syntax, grammar and spelling are essential.
  3. Curriculum vitae (C.V.). The C.V. is a standardized medical resume that is offered to faculty to improve candidates’ letters of recommendation (LOIs), highly important factors in the medical school application process. The C.V. can also be used for the rest of the applicant’s professional career.
  4. Mock interviews. Few people would take the MCAT® without practicing first. But many applicants mistakenly arrive at their medical school interviews unprepared. Being coached by an experienced professional makes an enormous difference in an applicant’s confidence and presentation to the admissions committee.

When choosing a medical school admissions consulting company, an applicant should verify the company’s references and research its consultants. Elite companies that offer both the medical focus and a highly experienced consultant who works one-on-one with clients offer a large advantage for medical school applicants, especially during these competitive times.

There might be Gimik in 2010. When Mylene guested on Ruffa and Ai, she said, “Abangan nyo po yung muling pagsasama-sama ng isang barkada…” Camille Prats was also a guest, so she smiled and said, “Parang alam ko yan, kasi ako ang younger version nyan…” Also in an interview with WIll Devaughn sa Juicy, he said that he is currently working on Gimik 2010. Kaya parang meron talaga… It won’t be the same without Ricky though. :-( Kaya mag-watch out na lang tayo!

A/T india times ranking AFMC stands 2nd after AIIMS.
Recent news says that AFMC has collaborated with WHO.
So one has no need to worry about the future.
So AFMC no doubt is the best college for medical aspirants.

One of the best design schools around is College For Creative Studies – it feeds into some of the best design firms in the country! However, it is in Detroit, which is probably about a 30 minute drive from Ann Arbor.

Check the CET brochure for the number of seats available in various colleges in Bangalore.
    http://kea.kar.nic.in/kea_brochure.htm

If you get a rank 150, you can easily get into most of the med colleges in Bangalore. If you are a general merit student, then getting into BMC with rank 150 might be a little difficult. Anyways don't forget to attend 2nd round of counselling. For last year's medical cut-offs, download the cut-off list from KEA website:
    http://kea.kar.nic.in/medi_cutoff_2k7.pdf

Well. I'm a first year student of BMC. My rank was 111 (general merit) and got into BMC in the second round.

    Anyways, best of luck :)

Professors typically select the books for their classes, so each class will have different books, so there is not a list. Find out what are the most popular books for M1 (First year med school) courses and look at those. Looking at Med school web sites may help, or may not.
